Cody grew up in Walters and was a member of FBC from his youth. He graduated in 2001 from Walters High School and attended Cameron University before beginning his career at Cotton Electric Cooperative in 2004.

Cody surrendered his life to Christ, and was baptized at Corum Baptist Church in 1992 at the age of 10. After a few years of serving in the youth department, Cody began serving as Youth Pastor at FBC Walters in 2017 and was ordained into ministry in 2018. He has a heart for the youth of the community and desires to see them live out the call of the gospel in their homes and school.

His favorite passage from the Bible is found in Luke 19:37-40 as Jesus make his triumphal entry and rebukes the Pharisees saying "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out." He reminds himself daily of the quote of Paul Washer "There is no such thing as a great man of God, only weak, pitiful, faithless men of a great and merciful God." The quote serves as a reminder of the amazing grace given to a man who continues to fall short daily.

 

Cody married his lovely wife Laura Pennington in 2009. They have 3 wonderful boys to the marriage: Hayden (2010), Brycen (2015), and Hudson (2021). Laura serves alongside him in the youth department teaching a Sunday school class and helping to make order of the chaos. They enjoy spending time with family, OU athletics, and hiking.
